Let’s be honest—midlife is a full plate. Between work, family, relationships, aging parents, and the ever-growing list of “life stuff,” it’s easy to feel scattered. Sometimes, when I finally get a quiet moment, I have to stop and think about what I was supposed to be doing next! That’s why I rely on my habit tracker—it’s a simple tool that helps me cut through the noise, refocus, and stay grounded in what matters.

What Tasks Do I Put on my Habit Tracker?

In this season of life, I use my habit tracker to support my routines, health goals, and relationships. A few staples:

  • Move my body (walk, stretch, light workout)
  • Drink 8+ glasses of water
  • Take vitamins/supplements
  • Read or reflect on my mission statement
  • Tidy the kitchen before bed

Simple, right? But tracking these small wins helps me feel steady in the middle of the chaos.

I also include things that nurture my most important roles—like being present with my family and caring for me, too:

  • Check in with one of my kids or grandkids
  • Text a friend or schedule a lunch
  • Journal or do a quick devotional
  • Lights out by 10:30

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about building habits that support the life I want to live now.

Track Your Progress!

I know, I know… it sounds a little nerdy. But seriously, tracking my habits is fun and motivating! And let’s be real—you can’t improve what you don’t track. Watching those boxes fill up gives me a sense of accomplishment, even on days when everything else feels up in the air.

Habit Tracker = Accountability Partner

Sometimes I think of my habit tracker as a quiet accountability partner. It’s not barking at me or making me feel guilty—it’s just there, patiently waiting, reminding me of the things that help me feel my best. And honestly, that kind of gentle structure is exactly what I need in this season of life.

As midlife women, our days can look really different from one another. Some of us are juggling work, caregiving, or running businesses. Others are navigating quiet homes for the first time in decades. No matter where you are, a habit tracker can meet you right where you’re at.

You might use it to build in more movement, to finally drink enough water (guilty!), or to reestablish a bedtime that actually lets you wake up feeling rested. Or maybe you just want to remember to check in on yourself—how you’re doing, how you’re feeling, and what you need.

The beauty is: you get to decide what goes on that list. You’re not behind. You’re just figuring out what works now—and that’s something worth celebrating.

So grab your tracker, choose a few habits, and make it yours. Your future self will thank you.

  1. It’s so true that to cross something off – even on the back of an envelope – I feel better. Now…to find that envelope! You are more than a semblance of order!
