But have you heard the comparison about being the flight attendant? I have never been on a flight during an emergency…but I imagine if I were…I would look to the flight attendants to see how they were reacting.
They obviously have a lot more experience handling airplane emergencies than I do…if it were something to be worried about I’m sure there would be some indication of that.
Moms need to be the same way for our kids. We don’t need to go crazy with every little bump that comes along in our lives. We are the ones with the life experience to know that it’s going to be fine…even if we hit a rough patch now and then.
I have found this is not always easy to do! I tend to be on the emotional side…and mirroring my moody teenage daughter’s emotions is NOT a good idea and just causes more emotional chaos!
So…I’m really writing this to remind myself that I’m the flight attendant in our home. Whether I like it or not…my kids are looking to me to see whether they should panic or not!
My actions and attitude tell them how they should react. And my behavior often impacts how my children treat each other.
