Hey there, fabulous midlife ladies! 🍊✨Today, we’ve got a nifty little DIY project that not only helps you maintain a sparkling clean home but also adds a touch of natural, citrusy freshness to your cleaning routine. It’s time to put those leftover orange peels to good use and create your very own Orange Peel Vinegar Cleaner!

Midlife brings with it a desire for cleaner living, both in terms of health and the environment. And what better way to align with those goals than by whipping up your own eco-friendly, all-purpose cleaner right in your kitchen?

I like using vinegar to wipe down my counters or clean my windows…but I don’t love the smell (and neither does my family!) But there is a way to get the benefits of vinegar with a better scent…and no toxic chemicals! Say goodbye to harsh chemicals and hello to a greener, cleaner home sweet home. Let’s get started on this fun and fresh DIY adventure!

One of my favorites is using orange peels…lemon and grapefruit peels work great too…I just usually have more oranges than lemons on hand!

Orange Peel Vinegar Cleaner Recipe

It is super easy to make…

  1. Peel an orange and eat it!
  2. Put the peel in an empty glass jar
  3. Cover with white vinegar (yep…use the cheap stuff here) and let sit for 2 weeks
  4. Remove peels, strain, and dilute 1:1 with water
  5. Pour into a spray bottle

You could also add cloves, cinnamon sticks, basil, rosemary, or pine tree clippings to the orange peel & vinegar mixture for added scent.

Important Note: Do not use vinegar on granite (or any natural stone) counter tops!

Make it Happen!

  1. Gather your supplies! Vinegar, jar, lid…and oranges (or lemons or grapefruit!)
  2. Peel your fruit and put in empty jar. Add vinegar, put the lid on it and find a place for it to sit for a couple of weeks.
  3. Strain, add to a spray bottle, and dilute with water if desired.
